SOUL SURVIVOR 2006
WOW! This year was absolutely amazing. There is so much to say which last night I proved when me and Andrew got home and spent over an hour telling mum everything!
Like Loz had said just before we left we all needed this, a chance to get really close to God and she was right. On the first evening meeting or maybe the second I realised how for ages I hadn't been worshipping him with everything I had and throughout the time we were there I just knew that my relationship with God was not the best it could be. So in the praise and worship I was really entering in and getting prayed for and afterwards I had the desire to really get to know God properly, to actually pray to him and tell him all my problems, to read my bible, to make him the centre of my life which if I'm honest I haven't been doing.
I found the talks in the main meetings really inspirational, and not because I had a little crush on Andy (the guy hosting it, NOT my brother!!!) although maybe I payed slightly more attention when he spoke... joke. Seriously, I need to buy the CDs because my memory is rubbish but I know they were good! I went to the Soul Sister meets Soul Man seminar as well which was very entertaining! I wouldn't say that this seminar was the most indepth for getting closer to God or studying the bible, but I thought it was really good to have a time when there were boys and girls who talked about relationships but from the perspective of being a Christian.
Like Loz has said the camping part was pretty nasty! I mean I could cope with it but it was just the last few days I really was craving my own bed and shower. Plus, I was not impressed with the weather. It was FREEZING!!!! I had only brought 2 jumpers and one warm hoody so I had to be really trampy and wear the same hoody on top of about 3 layers to keep warm! And it felt so wrong having to wake up at 6.30am just to avoid ques for the shower, then again I was expecting that from previous experiences.
I had a great timne and I'm thinking next year I might go to 'Momentum' which is the same as 'Soul Survivor' but aimed more at students, and I expect it's just as good!

I think the thing that makes SS so good is that even if you are a student or a post grad (ie older than 20) it still appeals to the kid in you. 'SING!' 'SING!'
If I went to Momentum or New Wine I would feel sceptical about whether it would be as good simply because I think the crowd would be more mature and so wouldn't be quite as bubbly as it was.
However, I do think that worship would be better with older guys simply because they won't start off as many stupid chants. Ha
